About Me Mary Ann Willoughby was a professional dancer and teacher for twenty years. In search of exploring the world, through new eyes Mary Ann picked up a camera and began to record images on film and in words. This led her to spend a year in East Africa studying music and developing programs for children. Mary Ann was introduced to traditional healers and herbal medicine while recovering from malaria and tick typhus. Upon her return to New York she felt the call to pursue the study of acupuncture after meeting and working with Abdi Assadi, a profound healer and acupuncturist. At the same time she also began her yoga studies with Carrie Owerko, a friend from the dance world, now a wise and dedicated yoga practitioner in the Iyengar tradition.
Mary Ann graduated from Tri State College of Acupuncture with a master’s degree in Acupuncture and is licensed and recognized by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture in NY. She is currently studying herbs in the Kampo tradition and will earn a Masters of Oriental Medicine in 2008. Presently she is on faculty at TSCA working with Kiiko Matsumoto while assisting in the clinic and didactic classes. |
