Meditation Meditation is an essential part of any practice and therapy. It is important to sit in silence everyday as well as slowing down your actions throughout the day. It is ideal to do one task at a time, eat when you eat, walk when you walk and sleep when you sleep. How simple and yet how profound this awareness can bring to your life. When you train the senses and cultivate one-pointed concentration, you are sowing the seeds for living a full, free and joyful life.
The art of meditation helps us develop the capacity to drop deep, below the surface thoughts of me and mine into the depth of our true identity. This is a great discovery to realize we can be opened to our real nature, complete in itself and connected to all things. Most importantly meditation allows us to see things as they really are not as a theory but as direct perception. When we stop following our ever-roaming thoughts we create stability and infinite possibilities. "A human being is a part of the whole, called by us "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." |
